What would you wear?
Thanks everyone for your feedback on the Teen Boat shirt.
Based on some of the comments, I'd like to run by some alternate designs.

Which do you like the best?
Ideally we want something that looks cool and also promotes the comic!

Design 3 with logo - Preference for a more curved composition.

I am also drawn to design 3 with logo. You're best off keeping the logo on, since the design is cool, but doesn't quite speak for its self.

yeah I wondered if people will just not process the image without the logo or at least something saying "teen boat"

If you know about teen boat the graphic totally makes sense, and it looks really good even if you don't but the text definitely clarifies things

oh yeah, number 3!
also miguel says he's not a huge fan of the image colour... could it be a little different? maybe white or something?
i am *stoked* to wear this shirt!

I have faith! :)

My vote would be for Design 3 with logo on back to balance "cool shirt on its own" and "cool shirt that promotes book", however I know that costs a chunk more. So Design 3 with text is probably the best bet.

Also with Design 3, logo on back.

but would you think it was still okay if the logo was on the front?

It'd be okay with the circular design because it looks like he's actively transforming into the boat, and that makes it more "wearable" to someone who's never heard of Teen Boat before.

I'd say logo is a must. Front or back would work equally well.

And I think I'm with everyone else on Design 3 to accompany it. That really pulls the various components of the art together the best. It doesn't just show a progression, but action and movement.

I personally like Design 3 with the logo- there's that "in transformation" look and feel with it - and the logo helps to define what it is.

it will really pop.

I like design 3. Could go with or without logo.

I'd have to agree with pretty much... everyone else. Design 3 with the logo. I think it's worthwhile to have the logo on the front of the shirt, so that everyone can identify what they're looking at; and besides for that, I think it adds to the composition. As I was scrolling down, I was thinking I liked the simpler design with only 3 transitions until I saw it reformatted to the curve. That definitely looks the awesomest.

Ooh, I like 3 with logo (as it looks like almost everybody does)

I know this is pretty much a null statement regarding what you're working on, but I'd just like to note that I don't like shirts with stuff on the back. Especially not words!

I hear what you are saying. The more and more I work on shirts and analyze the shirts I buy I tend to not like things on the backs of shirts. Partially because I always wear a button up shirt or flannel over my t-shirts so no one ever sees the backs anyway!

I have a few shirts where people are like "what is that?" and I have to take off my other shirt so they can see the back to "get it".

This may be more elaborate than what you're going for, but here's what I think would be really cool: a "ring" of images, going around the entire torso, with Teen Boat continually transforming (using the same images you have now, but all the same size, and repeating).

But from the choices, #2 cause I like the little water ripples underneath the title!

I think that the shapes of the transforming teen in all the designs are so different and irregular that the designs do not seem very unified. IMHO, I think what your design needs, is some kind of repetitive shape or structure to unify the separate stages of the assembly and to create a rhythym, rather like you see in the bounding boxes of the instructions in a lego set or an IKEA coffee table. If I may be so bold:

Design 3, but perhaps make the logo a wee bit bigger? Otherwise, rock on!
